| This is the TEMPORARY (in development) Internet home of the local and global around-the-clock |
| SIMPLE PEACE VIGIL |
| of those on this fragile planet who believe that the way to resolve conflicts (especially international conflicts) is through dialogue, engagement, and cooperation, as opposed to violence, economic sanctions, and war. |

WHO WE ARE |
| We are lovers of real peace on our small blue Earth. |
| We are thousands of human beings who have joined this simple peace vigil so far, as vigilers, participants, or supporters. |
We say, simply: DIALOGUE is the way, not war! |
| This is what we share as individuals, in solidarity for peace and justice. Besides this common ground in hope, we do not necessarily share any other characteristics, beliefs, desires, or goals. |

| HISTORY OF OUR VIGIL |
| From its Day One (7:00 PM, Friday, March 21, 2003) until its Day 2000 (7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 9, 2008), the time our vigil will formally change its name to Around-the-Clock SIMPLE PEACE VIGIL, it has been known as: Around-the-Clock Interfaith Vigil to Stop Violence (Please see www.interfaithful.org for more information). |
| The reason for our name change is that SOME people have mistakenly perceived our vigil as being a religious or spiritual one, while the reality is that this vigil is SIMPLY ABOUT PEACE, and says, quite simply: |
DIALOGUE is the way, not war! |

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR VIGIL |
| While going about their daily lives, individuals (or groups of 2 or higher) can simply put one or a few green leaves in a bowl of water (a symbol of being "awake" in many ancient cultures) at home, workplace, school, house of worship, natural setting, or other appropriate place of meaning for the person or the group; and/or just simply carry a green leaf--or use other personalized symbol(s) of mindfulness and responsibility, for peace. |
| In addition, individual or group vigiling can become even more meaningful by taking the following many forms, in many settings and kinds of activity, such as : prayer, meditation, prayer meetings, individual or group study on violence, war, peace, environment, current issues, etc.; and also, book study gatherings, educational offerings, personal readings, social activism (especially on issues related to peace and protection of the environment on our imperiled planet), one-to-one conversations for the purpose of learning, teaching, or sharing, group discussions, peace/justice/environment protests or demonstrations, and of course, through helping others, especially to reduce the suffering of those who cannot help themselves. |
